Gosh the weather has been so wet in the North the last few months its hard to believe Summer is over and Autumn is sneaking in. This month brings the ripening of plants and bushes beautiful berries and brightly coloured foliage. It assaults our eyes with riot of colour, taking our attention away from the fact Winter will march its way in and it will soon be Christmas.
For a couple of months we have been looking at designs for Christmas, later than we should, but producing these illustrations at Easter is not for us. We do work on some designs at Christmas for the following year, as many things we sketch and use are direct from the subjects themselves, but often our illustrations are finalised at a later date. For those like us who have to get into the Christmas mindset early, how do you stop yourself blurting our Silent Night whilst drawing baubles, Holly and other things belonging to that period? Its not easy, I’ve been eyeing up the Conkers and Acorns and find myself humming Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Anyway whilst we continue with designing our next batch of stationery, we decided to share some photos with you from our recent walks and one of our little designs for Christmas.
The Mistletoe was meant to be a printed design but with colour we have turned a little symbol into a small illustration, to send kisses across the miles this Christmas. Coronavirus may put our hugs on hold, but we can send our affection through this little symbol and show how much we care.
